My name is Philipp Andreas Baer. Between December 2004 and December 2008 I was a scientific researcher at the Distributed Systems Group of Kassel University, Germany. Kassel is located approximately in the middle of Germany. It is surrounded by an impressive dead area (about 200km), a kind of green-belt. I have finished my PhD on 4th December 2008. You may find some more information on the page I dedicated to my dissertation work.

In 2005, my colleague Roland Reichle and I founded the Carpe Noctem Robotic Soccer team. I led the team from 2005 to 2008. For the RoboCup German Open 2008 and 2009, I was appointed chair of the Middle Size League tournament.

From 1999 to 2004, I was enrolled in the Computer Science programme of the Faculty of Computer Science (now Faculty of Engineering and Computer Sciences) at the University of Ulm, Germany. Ulm is located about 100km north of the Lake Constance (Bodensee). There is also a page I dedicated to my diploma thesis.

Between 2001 and 2004, I was a member of the Ulm Sparrows RoboCup team. During that time I took care of the computer installation in our robotic laboratory and the configuration of our robots. I was further responsible for robot communication and implemented an efficient group communication approach based on IP multicast (NotifyMulticast) that is now part of the robot middleware Miro.

My research interests include robotics, networking, computer security, and operating systems. Due to irreproducible payments to the IEEE and ACM, I am a member of these associations as well as of some of their societies.  In my free time, I happen to be an amateur photographer. Even though I started with analogue equippment, I switched over to DSLRs. Other hobbies or further information information related to my private life are not of interest here.
